How I Plan to Spend 1M Award Points Effectively

During COVID-19, I was pretty crazy about opening new credit cards and collecting credit card reward points and over the years, I've collected (together with my husband) over 1 million points across various platforms like Chase, Amex, CapitalOne, Bilt, US Bank, etc. Although I've already spent a lot of them in various occasions include redeeming for Hyatt hotels, economy flights, etc, I haven't had a super successful redemption like what other credit card gurus out there. I consider "success" when you can redeem over 5c per point. As an example, if I can manage paying 100K points for a $5K business class flight, I would consider that as successful.

How was I able to accumulate over 1M (flex) points?

Here I'm actually only talking about flex points which basically means points that are issued by banks or credit card companies that are flexible enough to be transferred to other loyalty travel partners like airlines or hotels.

What's my plan to spend these points?

As we know, unlike investment, points is a depreciation asset and it's best to spend them than keeping them in your rewards account. So far, if I were to rank points from easiest to hardest to spend. It would look something like this. This ranking should also reflect the value per point per TPG valuation (ie. the higher the value per point, the more valuable or easy to spend)

  • Bilt

  • Chase

  • U.S. Bank

  • Amex

  • CapitalOne

So far, I haven't redeemed any Amex or CapitalOne points so my goal this year is to redeem these points for max value.

How can I use AI to automate this redemption process?

As you know, I try to use AI to automate my life and redeeming points for max value is certainly not an easy task. Can we perhaps give this task for AI and allow them to book on our behalf as soon as an award availability comes out (even if we're asleep)?
